Engineering on Vendr’s product and backend — helping the team ship faster through the next stage of growth, then into AI-assisted product features.

Context

Vendr helps finance and procurement teams buy and manage SaaS. I joined as the company was scaling: the product and platform were already in place, but parts of the development lifecycle needed to change so the team could move faster. That meant CI/CD improvements, monorepo tooling, and adjustments to how we delivered — alongside ongoing platform and product work. Over time the balance shifted toward product features, including AI-assisted workflows. Architecture, implementation, reviews, and mentorship — with shipping as the measure.

What I contributed

  • Faster delivery — migrated CI from CircleCI to GitHub Actions with a pipeline the team owned; adopted Turborepo in the monorepo for materially faster builds
  • Platform engineering — PostgreSQL schema and multi-tenant data model evolution, Prisma, React Router, AWS serverless APIs (Lambda, RDS Aurora, API Gateway), infrastructure-as-code and observability
  • Schema evolution — complex production migrations with zero-downtime constraints
  • Product delivery — feature design and implementation, including AI-assisted workflows
  • Engineering standards — code review and technical mentorship

What I bring to the table

This is the kind of engagement I replicate for startups: pragmatic architecture, delivery practices that compound, hands-on implementation when the team is blocked — without turning the relationship into an infrastructure-only contract.
